PUPIL LEADERSHIP AT CLYST HEATH

Pupil leaders at Clyst Heath are trained to help in being involved in aspects of our whole school development.

Leaders are trained to:

  • Work alongside all staff in making key decisions
  • Voice opinions and ideas to improve teaching and learning
  • Being visual around the school to promote good behaviour and safety
  • Actively seeking views of other pupils regarding key issues and changes in school

Class ambassadors

Class ambassadors encourage pupil voice via the School’s Council. They suggest how learning and teaching at Clyst Heath could be developed further. They act as good role models in upholding our school motto of 'Aim high, achieve the best' and through our guiding principles of being ready, willing and able in ourselves, our school and our world.

Library ambassadors

Library ambassadors keep the school library tidy by checking books which have been handed in, and to put them back on the correct shelves, making it easier for other to find the books they are looking for. Library ambassadors are also involved in choosing and rotating books for the book display and supporting class ambassadors and teachers in updating and choosing book collections for classrooms. Library ambassadors are good role models for reading for pleasure.

Digital ambassadors

Digital ambassadors train to be experts in the computing world. They are able to seek pupil voice and evaluate the school’s digital technology. They work closely with the Computing subject lead and other curriculum subject leads to keep up to date with digital technology to enhance learning and to ensure that all pupils stay safe online.

Eco ambassadors

Eco ambassadors help develop and support all staff in raising environmental awareness, improving our school environment and developing and learning key environmental knowledge and skills. They work with a number of stakeholders inside school and outside to develop knowledge and secure funding to make our school a greener environment.

Wellbeing ambassadors

Wellbeing ambassadors are passionate and knowledgeable about having a healthy body and a healthy mind.  They regularly remind us of the 'Top Ten' things that each of us should practice daily.  They work alongside all stakeholders inside school, including the PE & Wellbeing lead teachers, together with external agencies.

Team Leaders

As well as collecting the house cup in assemblies and on sports day, Team leaders are responsible for organising their teams during special themed weeks and in encouraging their teams to aim high and achieve their best, with the reward of house points. Team leaders are good role models and demonstrate true grit and strength, positivity, determination and good teamwork.

Play Leaders

Play leaders have received high quality training by a qualified coach.  They work hard to enhance our playtimes and lunchtimes, where they sort and organise equipment, teach and referee playground games or more traditional sports matches.

Peer Mentors

Peer mentors are there to listen, coach and support playground trials and tribulations. Peer mentors have been trained to ask coaching style questions to help with problem solving or to signpost peers to groups or games where they can join in if they are feeling lonely or left out.
