SUSTAINABILITY, OUTDOOR EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT 

at Clyst Heath Nursery and Community Primary School 

Intent  

In the 21st Century words such as sustainability and environmentalism are used frequently so it is essential that children begin to develop an understanding about the ‘Three Pillars of Sustainability’. Learning how to balance the social, economic and environmental aspects that create true sustainability will empower children to protect our communities and world in the future. Our intent is to enable our children to develop an understanding about the world around them, how the actions of humans impact the natural world and their role in ensuring a clean, healthy environment into the future. To enable them to do this we will tap into the wealth of opportunities to visit local places of interest. We will also invite in visitors who can show and talk about the huge range of opportunities awaiting them in both their local and wider community, expanding the cultural capital of all our pupils.
